The Cedar Fire began on August 22nd, 2016 at 4:30 PM at the Cedar Creek Campground and quickly became a priority one fire in the nation. Evacuees from Tulare county began arriving at the Glennville Rodeo grounds on Thursday afternoon after a mandatory evacuation order was given to all residents of Posey, Panorama Heights, Balance Rock, Idlewild and surrounding communities. Soon, 30 evacuees, 14 horses, 30 cows and over 900 firefighters were on the Glennville Rodeo grounds. Volunteers helped feed our guests while donations poured in from Bakersfield, Wasco, Delano and as far away as Michigan. After two weeks, the evacuees were allowed to return to their fully protected homes and on September 6th, the Incident 5 Fire Management Team and Glennville Fire camp left the Rodeo grounds. All were feed, cared for and never had a day of bad news.
