Your 2009 Miss Glennville Rodeo Royalty!

Please meet our 2009 Miss Glennville Rodeo Queen - Tyana Hawker

Tyana Hawker:

Hello and welcome to the Glennville Rodeo website! My name is Tyana Hawker and I am your current Miss Glennville Rodeo Queen. I am 19 years old and reside in Palmdale, CA.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Ever since I can remember, horses have always been a focus for my passion. I grew up competing in 4-H events, barrel racing, various horse shows, and rodeos.  Working with Paso Fino horses currently takes up my time as I commit every day towards becoming a horseman, or should I say woman!

I attend Antelope Valley College where I am working towards my Associates in Biology. I have a applied to both Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, so I hope to transfer to one of them this next fall. Getting my BS in Animal Science will be my next step, and then I plan to attend UC Davis or Texas A&M to earn my degree in Veterinary Medicine.

I’ve found myself enjoying more and more activities by the day! I participate in all sorts of hobbies, from snowboarding and jet skiing to hiking and swimming. Surfing and competing in Forensic Speaking tournaments are recent discoveries of mine that I know I’ll be dedicating more time to!

The community of Glennville has opened up its arms to me in ways I cannot even being to describe. The incredible people behind not only the pageant, but the rodeo and the town itself, are people I know I will always count on in the future. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get this year started!

Please meet our 2009 Miss Glennville Jr. Rodeo Queen - Mary Ward

Mary Ward:

Mary Katherine Ward is 15 years old, a sophomore in High School and was born and raised in Bakersfield. Her Mother is Ann Ward and she has two older brothers Joshua and Matthew Schweitzer. She also has three Quarter Horses and a Labrador retriever named "Jake".

Mary has always had horses in her life. When she was really young, she says she can remember her mom leading her around on their old Quarter Horse Mare Gabby.  Wearing her pink boots and a grin ear to ear waving to anyone that would look her way. Just like the pretty girls at the Rodeo did.

Growing up loving trail riding and just anything horses always had her attention. Rodeo is a way of life for many of her Family Members, so it was no surprise when Mary wanted to compete.  Roping, barrels,or riding her reining horse is where you will find her on any given day.

One of her favorite things to do is to go gather cattle in the springtime on her mare "Kiss Me". That's where she picked up a rope for the first time and learned to throw a loop. Mary is looking forward to roping this year on the newest addition to the heard, "Nick" a big blue roan Quarter Horse.

Mary is excited to be representing the GMVA and Glennville as their 2009 Jr. Rodeo Queen and hanging out with her "New Sisters", Tyana Hawker (2009 GMVA Queen) and Sierra Zimmerman (2009 GMVA Princess).

Please meet our 2009 Miss Glennville Rodeo Princess -  Sierra Zimmerman

Sierra Zimmerman:

Hello Rodeo Fans! I am 12 years old and in the 7th Grade at Pioneer Middle School in Porterville, California. My dad, Andy, and I live on the Shannon Ranch just east of Porterville with our collection of horses, dogs and 4-H show animals.

For the past 7 years I have been competing in the Sierra Junior Rodeo Association in Springville, California. Over the years, my hard work has paid off and I have won 8 buckles, two trophies and, in 2004, I won a saddle as the All-Around Pee Wee Cowgirl - I was 6 years old. I have also ridden with the Porterville Canterbelles Drill Team. My other hobbies are working on the ranch, riding horses, branding, going on cattle drives and working cattle whenever I can.

Running for the 2009 Miss Glennville Rodeo Princess was challenging and fun! I met so many new people and learned so much about representing Rodeo and the great community of Glennville. I would like to say "Thank You" to all of my friends, sponsors and family (especially my dad) that supported and encouraged me throughout the competition.

I am honored to represent the great sport of Rodeo, the Greenhorn Mountain Veterans Association and the community of Glennville as the 2009 Miss Glennville Rodeo Princess. I'm looking forward to a really great year ahead!
