Cowboy Crisis Fundraiser benefitting Ruben Carver

The Greenhorn Mountain Veterans Association together with the Mt. Carmel Community Church will be presenting the First Annual Ruben’s Cowboy Crisis Fundraiser on Saturday, October 22nd. This fun filled, family friendly day will feature an equestrian play-day beginning at 12 noon. Events such as a keyhole race, poles and barrels, apple bobbing,  flag race, jousting, dollar ride, goat tying and a obstacle course for horse and riders. We will also have events for non-riders such a horseshoe tournament, dummy roping,a sack race, goat roping, horse decorating contest, egg & spoon race and foot obstacle course! Prizes for all winners in age categories.  Registration forms including waivers are available at the Glennville Post Office, the Saddle Sore Saloon or by emailing Erin Rogers at gbrelr@aol.com.

Concessions will be available for the public, with our famous Rodeo hamburgers and hot dogs! Following the playday, the Mt. Carmel Community church will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner in the GMVA hall including  Ruben’s dance and raffle. All proceeds will benefit the family of Ruben Carver, a 16 year old Glennville resident who was seriously injured in a horse accident in August 2011.

The GMVA is committed to helping our local family in times of crisis, therefore this will be an annual event establishing a crisis fund for the future needs. Your participation at this event will be greatly appreciated! Entry fees for the play-day will be $30 per person for equestrian events, $20 for non equestrian events. The dinner will be a donation to Ruben’s Cowboy Crisis Fund. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 per ticket, no limits. The dance will feature a “Bachelor Dance” in which our ladies can give Ruben dollars to dance with the Bachelor of their choice! It will be a fun night of dancing and friendship! Mark your calendars and come be a part of this great community event!  For more information, please contact Bret or Erin Rogers at 536-8941 or email gbrelr@aol.com
